About Us

Alnwick Spring Show grew from the ashes of Alnwick Summer Show, which is no longer held. Northumberland has numerous summer shows celebrating the flowers and produce grown locally, but organisers decided to try a spring show, a first for the County. The initial show, in 2007, was held in the Alnwick Garden Visitor Centre and proving successful, gradually increased until the Garden‘s Pavilion became its venue. The Duchess of Northumberland was a regular visitor to present the awards and followed this interest by becoming our Patron.

In 2012, the show committee moved the venue to Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre. Although not as visually attractive as The Alnwick Garden with the water cascade as a backdrop, it has the advantage of offering more space. Sponsorship became an essential requirement to maintain the show and guarantee standards.

Covid only temporarily paused the show and it returned in 2023, with a slightly smaller show but it was back to full strength the following year.

In 2025, following feedback from exhibitors and visitors, we added a new class of Fly-Tying. We also we welcome back Floral Art, with the winners being decided by a public vote.

Shows such as this are disappearing, so we encourage the local community e.g. schools, clubs and societies to participate. It is a great way to spend a spring time Saturday.
